Vitamin K2 Deficiencies Require Increased RDIs

Vitamin K1 is adequately attained from the diet and there is no deficiency per current RDIs for the body’s coagulation need.

The bigger issue is total K status, specifically Vitamin K2, as loss of bone and hardening of the arteries are indications of a nutrient deficiency.

With 97% of Western populations expressing some Vitamin K2 deficiency or insufficiency, would it not be reasonable to recommend an increased RDI for K2? Particularly as research has shown that Vitamin K2 supplementation safely enhanced K status, improved bone mineral retention, and decreased arterial calcification.
